The Router Table Saga
Probably One of the Most Satisfying and Useful Projects You Can Build!
I really like my router table. It allows me, and even encourages me, to make joints and decorative cuts that I just wouldn't do, without it. I've provided some pictures of it below, and a link to the posting I made to rec.woodworking, about my experiences building the cabinet and purchasing the top and fence. I believe I went "top of the line," with my purchase of the BenchDog components.

It's a Basic, Useful Design, with Lots of Storage.
I built the cabinet, (as mentioned elsewhere on the site) from some prefinished, walnut veneer plywood obtained from a garage sale. The lady didn't even know she wanted to sell it. I just asked "how much" and she said, "what'll 'ya give me." I said "how 'bout twenty bucks", and the deal was done. The sanding cabinet behind it, was made of the same materials. I didn't have any plans, just saw Norm's show and a couple other pictures, here and there, and built it from memory. It turned out pretty well.

There's five bit storage drawers, but only these two have anything in them. A guy can be optimistic, can't he? Click the link below to read my building experience and review of the BenchDog components, that I posted to the rec.woodworking newsgroup.
I should probably provide an addendum to what I wrote and what you will read here. The posting was more that a year ago. Since then, BenchDog has received some very positive reviews in a couple of the woodworking mags. It is probably the top rated top and fence in the industry, right now. Karen and Norston are not as easy to get hold of, anymore. I don't hold that against them. They are just working hard and probably don't have the time they used to, but they still build a great product.

I Can't Emphasize This Enough...
Ya' Gotta Have One!

With this router table, my router has become the most useful tool in the shop. well, maybe next to the Unisaw. I just love using it! It's very stable and the size is just right. I haven't had a work piece so large, it couldn't be routed.
I probably sound like I'm pushing BenchDog. Well, you know what it's like when you purchase something and it turns out to be everything you hope for? This is, and more. Additionally, I've exchanged some e-mails with the owners, Norston and Karen. They seem like really good people. I do highly recommend their products. And, no, this is not a paid advertisement. In fact, I haven't even asked if I could link to their Web page.
Maybe I should do that.

The Fence is Probably,
My Favorite Feature

What I like most is, you can bring one end of the fence up to "near" where you want to be, then tighten it down and bring the other end to exactly where you want it! A real time saver.
